Well, Avid is running here with an ATI 4850 (or whatever the part is called - is a long time since I had thrown out the 7300'er), marveling at the first-generation Mac Pro. Therefore I suppose that is synonymous to work in the new boxes with Avid. There's an upgrade option is determined on a high end Nvidia card (Quadro FX type), which will cost twice as much as the Mac Pro itself :-)
What is much more likely to annoy me is the constant price increases with each new Apple hardware revision and the Mac Pro, which shows particularly in the Top Model pretty extreme. Once the Mac was the best s.Markt Pro Workstation (at the time when I had decided on such a box), but now I probably would rather place it back to HP - you must indeed give up Mac OS, but the parts are rock solid and you have more liberties (what graphics cards terms, etc.). Are synonymous, although not cheap, but their money worth at least.
For the long wait I would have expected something more synonymous (at least USB 3.0).
