Download them once the test version of Power DVD from download and try out if it is so. It would have to be synonymous with the Windows Media Player to go, because Power DVD installed Plugin to watch a DVD.
Otherwise, could the reason be - if you are using an older windows than XP - that you have your DVD drive with an audio cable to connect with the sound card.
