Hello everybody!
The following problem occurs with me:
My Mini-DV Camera via Firewire is detected, the synonymous and control over the PC (eg via Windows Movie Maker or Ulead Video Studio) to work properly. However I get on the PC no video, it appears only a black mini-screen.
The following causes of errors, I can definitively exclude:
1. The cable (s.einem other PC it works flawlessly)
2. The camera and its settings (see above)
3. The video editing program (problem occurs with Movie Maker and Video Studio)
4. The FireWire card (Audigy sound card with i-Link interface), at least I know that she previously was able to transfer video. Have a precaution, the new sound card drivers completely uninstalled the original and new drivers pulled out - without success.
Did someone get an idea what's wrong?

Edit:
The audio signal is synonymous not s.den PC. When I click on the Play button, click the video program, the tape in the camera motion and the counter is running. Only you can see and hear nothing, unfortunately. The camera's own LCD monitor and speakers work ...
Operating system is Windows XP SP3

I respect my problem still baffled.
I mentioned already that the DV capturing on my second computer is working. The system in this calculator is basically the same as the problem on my computer: Intel 4 HT 3 GHz, XP Prof., same software ;-)...
The only major difference that I mind is that the problem computer to the Service Pack 3 is installed (via Windows Update). On the second computer is SP2. I also have a little bit with codec-packs (XP codec pack) and the "Super" converter "playing around" ...
If there are s.SP3 would have to be on the net but massive problem descriptions can be found (which is not the case).
Here is a position on that, only raises the question whether the relevance for me is:

You've already found a solution? I have the same problem. Have a Canon XH A1. Was up about 1 months ago still everything to the PC via firewire on play now and after my move it no more. The Camera Of all the programs will be recognized correctly, it can be synonymous of these programs from control (play, pause, fast forward etc) but the picture and the sound is not transmitted. Furthermore, I noticed (eg Pinnacle Studio 12) that I've set 16:9 - but when I go to the recording and the camera is detected, then jumps the preview window in 4:3 mode. However, it is also black and the sound is synonymous not on the blower.
Have the latest drivers wanted, but all without success. Curiously, there are already about half a year now and does not anymore.
On this issue, I am, however, already encountered in several forums, without ever finding a solution. Perhaps yes but someone here to help.

Hi Maik,
a satisfactory solution to the problem, I have not yet been found, but I can give you at least say where exactly the problem (at least for me) is: It is the combination of Firerwire hardware and the Windows firewire drivers since SP2. Some older Firewire ports do not seem to be tolerated with the firewire drivers in Service Pack 2 In the networks, there are instructions on how to SP2 XP Drivers by older drivers can replace, for me, but it does not work.
Since I'm not new Firewire card to buy, I have an old XP version (without any service pack) on a separate partition as an additional operating system installed - works fine! If I want to capture video, I just run this "emergency" version, which I can then edit as normal of my fully-equipped with XP SP3 from it ...

I can understand your displeasure only too well understand. I feel exactly the same way.
Also present s.meinem Calculator (XP SP3 - The Windows XP Home SP2 CD contains already fixed) is not a capture of my Sony DV Cam possible.
The device is easily recognized and is synonymous in the workplace as a
Sony DV camcorder displayed. A double click opens the device, and I see the trouble-free picture from the Camera. Also frames, I can easily record (right click - images).
However, all refuse Capture Programs (DVIO, WinDV, ScenalyzerLive, Vegas) cooperation with the
Microsoft DV Camera and VCR. As a stopgap to work on my older Celeron laptop (synonymous XP SP3), the camera capturing of my problems. However, the path to the video on a laptop PC abundant troublesome.

So I've used the weekend times and tried to find a solution. I now have the presumption that the firewire interface in the XH-A1 has a way. Did the Cam synonymous times s.den laptop via firewire gestöpselt - same result. The cam can handle - start, rewind, pause, etc. I will s.Laptop synonymous appear that I have XH-A1 have connected and how the Cam heist. In the end, but neither picture nor sound of the pipe.
However, I clasp my Sonyan, everything works without problems. I am now not entirely clear whether it is in the interface s.der Cam is - or whether it was linked to the fact that the Sony DV Calculator for plays, but the Canon HDV. My guess, however, in the direction of interface.

Heiner Miracles happen - or how I help myself if I use the "How?" only knew.
A moderately severe system crash forced me to my WinXP system themself. That means I could actually functioning Acronis backup the system partition from February this year to use. (Yes, yes! You should but often times ...) All the data were always on 'its 2nd Partition and thus to obtain happiness.
So in short, C: platt - the backup drauf - XP SP3 and all the updates. And some inspiration, I follow the DV cam connected via firewire. That went so far anyway never s.diesem Calculator, synonymous back in February, but you can try again.
Da-ding, new hardware found, installed - can now be used!
And indeed! It can now be used! DV in-out, everything works! Even as i.LINK device preview in Vegas 8, it shows good use and the preview image.
I make a backup of course equal to the current installation before it is completely different about Windows.

I have a firewire problem can be finally solved. The cause is actually in the Windows firewire drivers since SP2 founded.
Here the solution is briefly summarized:
1. Here: http://www.computerbase.de/forum/showthread.php?t=84305&page=2 provides a user name "jurilein" a file name dll.zip for download. Included in the files 1394bus.sys and Ohci1394.sys from SP1. -> Download and unpack.
2. searches on your system after these two files and writes out the references to (in my case: c: \ windows \ Service Pack Files \ i386 and c: \ windows \ system32 \ drivers) (maybe you have to advance under Control Panel> Folder Options, the hidden files visible make)
3. Is now in Safe Mode (restart + F8 when loading of Windows press) and replaces the system found the downloaded files by using "click & drop" or "copy & paste". Every confirm replacement.
4. Restart and capturing videos ;-)
