If camera manufacturers in their description for HD camcorder indicate that a 3.1 megapixel camera has is it for photos, right? The cameras are probably 2 million effective pixels for 1080i HD recording.
How is this for 3Chip cameras? If then all 3 colors mean?

the excess sensor points on the image converter for digital photos are only interesting and sometimes synonymous for Image Stabilization. For video recordings, they are even more of a hindrance, because with increasing number of the sensitivity decreases. And, although most users like to film in darkness. ;-)
At 3 Image converters (for each primary color red / green / blue one) the signals are cleared, but not just mean the principle, but according to a precise procedure. You will find details here:
