... Looking for a open source video codec for export ... Why must the codec open source be? Or it is enough already, if the codec can be copied, disseminated and used to be?
Which platform with which operating system? What other criteria (reprocessable, etc.) should be met?
Antwort von stef08:
the license should not be too expensive, then it would be synonymous ok
working on windows, it is targeted presentations to a codec does not necessarily have to be installed first, but with traditional players such as vlc etc is playable.
furthermore, it is important at high resolutions in skalierbereich variable to be able to stay - for some codecs depends on the size dependent settings ...
Antwort von robbie:
na, but then there is the new flash codec, does not it? as far as I know, the so version9 already in HD, and flash is very widespread!

@ I: da haste dir aba effortless as with your answer, you give vll mal ne brief explanation about this, because it does so no one ... ;-)
Antwort von Wotan:
x264 is an MPEG4 codec. dll the open source. If for example with VLC.
DivX Encoder I know more than just buying and Xvid version is not as compatible as Divx if you do not well know what you where and how must adjust.
Xvid and other open source is not always exactly compatible with conventional DVD players, especially with brand players. FFDShow is I think open source and quite popular, as far as I know MPEG1 +2. TMPEG was synonymous ists times for free but no longer is, in my opinion and after all of compatible 3rd party encoders.
Miscellaneous codec packs deliver encoder with or sometimes there's even a version zb FFDShow Encoder, VLC Media Player, K-Lite codec pack .... well, since there are so few.
VLC Media Player is apparently your favorite player so I suggest that you try so times. Locking your camera to download the latest version yourself down and go to File, Open Capture Device. If the Cam NEN has DirectShow drivers (I always have Firewire, or?) Then choose from and put a secure Hakerl Stream. This is synonymous with all the files you "open".
Then you can try out which codec is good for you. The VLC encoder times are not so bad, but I've not yet tested how the mpeg quality is ... times should I do!
VLC was a bad example for players because of everything because he plays only with its own codecs and works for almost everything has a codec. Its properties are encoding but "still" in development.
An alternative in the area belongs h264 or the Windows Media Encoder. Free but Microsoft only ...
So, I hope you enjoyed the little trip to the scene like encoding. Google the names of the codecs and Manufacturer and quickly find what you are looking for.
