I have here at home a DVD / HD recorder (DMR-EX 77) of Panasonic and a display (formally known as "goggle-box") of Thomson (20LW052B5).
Except that on this occasion I noticed that it really needed is a league against absurd product name / type names found, I have the following problem with this constellation:
The Panasonic has a DVB-T receiver. If I enable TV and look between programs with 16:9 and 4:3 switch with such, then I always make the display settings so the Picture is not distorted. For 16:9 broadcasts, I s.TV 16:9 an AND for 4:3 broadcasts synonymous nor do I s.den HDMI Settings rotate, so I 4:3 correctly on the full screen size of 16:9 Zooming can.
I think the correct settings for the Panasonic HDMI should always 16:9, since HDMI is now 16:9 times. But that I see 4:3 Broadcasts, with the black bars above and below come along in Postcard size with edges s.allen pages. And the automatic Detection of the Thomson recognizes the 4:3 broadcasts not.
My question: What is the problem and there is a solution in which I do not ever s.Television rumfummeln need? Perhaps another Cable? Do I take scart and cons for what I do?
mfg, and ready for any kind of help ...
Pat

Also ich hab mal piecemeal all variants now synonymous with Video Format durchprobiert. First, I could detect no effect and then I have everything back running again - and lo and behold: it go! Why always synonymous. I document here and the settings where the Panasonic always 16:9 and spends himself for the necessary Margins of 4:3 broadcasts will. Although I am of the opinion that I these settings are synonymous already had - but who knows. Can I so then check here:
Panasonic: Setup Connection: TV Screen Format: 16:9 Progressive: A TV System: PAL HDMI Settings HDMI video format: Automatic 4:3 aspect ratio for video: 16:9
Thomson: Aspect ratio: 16:9 Format
