GS500 does not have:
S-video input, AV input, but only the outputs.
These functions are useful when you for example a video digutalisieren
want.
There are but a 16:9 display with which you those pictures without distortion
consider it.
In G400 the video here in the Height pulled.
But this has no effect on the recording.

Have einPanasonic NV-GS400 purchased in December 2005.
Am very satisfied. Especially on the IN / OUT Mögligkeiten.
The most interesting, in my opinion, is the Aperture manual iris.
Eg I can with the camcorder, the old Super 8 movies of my parents
transferred ....
Optics 12x zoom is great
The instructions are rather poor.
The 4 megapixels are not as good as my Sony Cybershot Camera
5 Mega but I usually use 3 Mega
