Hi,
I'm on the search for a small, light and up to 500 ¬ more expensive HD Cam. But I had previously favored the SD66, but is (as mentioned here already more often) not easily get to and probably has some disadvantages synonymous. Therefore, I look at the big brothers (SD80, SD99).
In particular, the image quality for camera movements often looks rather modest. Do you know if the image difference between the SD99 to SD80 justifies the extra cost of nearly 150 ¬?
At the SD99, of course, Wide Anglevon is 28 mm (!) Really great in the price range. For my application (shooting during sailing trips) this is a very good feature.
Would be glad if someone can say closer to the Comparison of both your camcorder, or any other general tips about synonymous.

Had been quite happy with Panasonic.
SD80 available for 380 Euro,
SD99 s.ca. 480, if you order in Austrian Empire, 520 ¬ in Germany.

If we can trust the information provided by slashcam database, the SD80 has no 1080p50, a much tinier sensor, the lower data rate, but a useless large zoom factor, the weaker wide-angle, no filter thread and no microphone jack. In this comparison of two spoke about everything that is for the SD99, but whether in this class - and above all synonymous to compete with Sony's new - the general recommendation is, I can not judge.
