Pinnacle Studio and faster PC's, render times

Question by Hotte2:
August 2005

Good evening, dear experts,

after my PC (1200s AMD Athlon, 256 MB) memory takes about 6 hours with Pinnacle Studio 9 to render a movie (DVD quality 100%) and keeps me recently synonymous different zun fools are a few questions:
I zuzulegen me with the idea of playing a new PC with 1GB of RAM, faster hard drive accordingly and AMD64 3000 or Intel P4 3000 on a board (Asus, MSI or Gigabyte) zuzlegen.

Can somehow be approximated said can render the time in which this situation a 60-minute clip of DVD quality video in Pinnacle Studio 9 / should be. I am talking not about exact values, but only to assess whether a new purchase really worthwhile. Should the new bebasichtigten in the constellation of creating the whole thing in just an hour ago few would not be worth a new purchase in my eyes. So in short, there is the possibility of halving the time for rendering's over?
The DV-benchmark here in Slashcam as a layman, I will unfortunately not as smart as me, because somehow missing the clues.

Then, two salesmen told me now that Intel CPUs are better suited for video editing than AMD CPUs. They should not have to be quicker, but more stable. Can somebody confirm or deny?

And as the last:
Is S-ATA to recommend or is the rather minimal performance gain?

Would be great if synonymous to me again this time a little could be helped.

Greeting
Hotte

Answer by Gast:

Hello,
for video editing, it should always be an Intel Pentium processor, as it quickly against AMD up to 40% Works. The important thing is synonymous of a memory at least 1GB s.besten in 2x512MB.

Answer by sama:

I just here with studio 10 pros encoded a clip of 1 minutes time in 90 sec in MPEG2, with hardware support it, 79 Sec. My PC has a P4-3, 2GHz processor and 2MB RAM.

Answer by Voltz:

6 hours for a 60 minute film will undercut you with any reasonably current PC significantly.

Influence on the duration of course, synonymous, like your project is large (Effects, etc.). But after 2 hours later than S9 should be done with current calculator) be (probably faster.

Answer by Profgruen:

Dear Forum,

I ask all who know (please synonymous St. Mark's / admin) if begging for answer to my question, which is similar to that of Hotte, but just passed on my situation.

I know it's a long question, but I am very grateful to you all if you would help me!

First of all: I am bound notebook, I can not change. I have approx 60 hours of DV video, my daughter (birth until now recorded in Studio) 9.3 of my Sony camcorder. Was not a problem. 1:1 time box office.

Cut film, dubbing, etc. - no problem.

BUT: I would like to produce films for 1 h as AVI to save hard drive.
Then replay everything for archiving to tape and burn to DVD if necessary.

The test film with approximately 1 hour and needed to be rendered on AVI approximately 7-8 hours.
The AVI to DVD or tape it would have used again as long
I habs canceled.

dzt Equipment: FJS-NB: Pentium 4 2 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 7200 rpm ext harddrive, Mobility Radeon 9000 65 MB, Studio 9.3.5

My QUESTIONS (I know it's much, please help me anyway!)

1. If I household with a new service strengthens NB
- On what is it specifically / especially s.um render times significantly
to reduce it? CPU? RAM? graphics card?

- Which equipment should I choose specifically to the new NB AND:

- As far as I can with new equipment Render time around
reduced (at 1 hr film project with many sections of several
Output AVIS)

2. I need to upgrade to Studio 10? it is said, that is still unstable and needs more resources ==> slow

3. I do render correctly when I first disc reading project and save as AVI rendere And then the tape or DVD to AVI and spend?
Some write of MPEG2 storage, which would go much faster? (I understand, but technically not)

Thank you in advance helpful s.alle out there!

Wolfgang

Answer by Markus:

Hello Wolfgang,

if you in your first sentence I meant, I must tell you that, sadly, I cut either with a laptop, even with Pinnacle Studio.

I can not synonymous look at my own PC, why is so fast, and you then have to guess, a real-time video card with hardware MPEG2 encoder fitted into notebook (which is synonymous not involved).

Of software encoders, I have therefore little to no clue.

Answer by Danke:

Boom you're fast!

I was not even in the mail and you just wanted to send a mail with the request to look at my posting to ...

OK, I knew that you as a professional "heavy equipment" to use. I only had the impression that you can give me for NB because of your expertise synonymous tips where I can start with a targeted NB-New purchase and where the greatest reduction lever. 're Finally admin guru :-)

Thank you for your prompt reply but

Complete Schmarn (sorry).

The best are as few modules as possible, because then the memory bus is not a bottleneck. In addition, to remain free so free memory for future expansion. This has, unfortunately, the only effect of the 1Gb modules are generally more expensive than 2x 512Mb ;-)
