Hey Ho,
here's my next problem with Vegas Pro 9e.
Since the Project exceeded my mp4 files from a length of 1h has the preview goes black during playback, only the sound is next.
When I stop playing and start again is nothing more played, only the tracks that contain music.
If I want then cut again with picture and sound, which indeed is sometimes very handy, helps only a restart of the program.
I have Quick Time, and Vegas already installed, the problem remains.
Why is that?

Yes! and the 32 bit version will not open my Project = crashes.

I have such problems sometimes synonymous - albeit at Lagarith. The codec itself is 32 bit, Vegas is 64 bit, inclusion works only sometimes synonymous wonderful just these black outs which go only after a program restart away.
In the 32 bit version of Vegas I've never had this problem ... perhaps lags but synonymous s.dem Windows XP which I had before (now Vista 64).

You ought to urgently review the memory usage of FileIOSurrogate.exe with the help of Task Manager. The process reaches a size of just under 2GB, so the rendering will fail. If this happens to me with about 30 clips (MP4/MOV). Cause is the massive memory consumption of about 75MBytes per clip (regardless of its length) by the Quicktime framework. This will not affect MP4 files from XDCAM EX sources, as these are not imported with the help of QuickTime.
A solution of the problem is possible only by prior conversion of material into another format. This is annoying and associated with loss of quality.
Sony Creative comment on this, that there was no problem. However, I can recommend to you only you s.den contact support.
