Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I still try it out:
I have pretty much no idea about video codecs, but have a problem with some movie files in. Avi format, on the computers of friends run smoothly. Even when you click on the Explorer breaks on my computer from the Explorer. I have explained so that the Windows Explorer, in principle, already on file accesses (create thumbnails). The problem arises only when. Avi files, but not all. Avi files.
The first thing I've tried all the video codecs with the help of the Program vcswap to inactivate that has nothing but synonymous, the same error. (strangely, I could after the inactivation still others video files - do not need all the codecs?)
Could it still be a problem with installing the codecs, or maybe someone else already had a similar problem and a solution is to come? Had super if I could help somebody else, without me the whole calculator must reinstall.

Sounds as if you had not installed all the necessary codecs (eg DivX or Xvid). Recommended here is the free K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, which includes all major codecs (www.free-codecs-com).
But CAUTION: Please only the codecs and filters do not install, otherwise you can in the video editing problems and get weird effects.
