Frage von Gombotz:Good morning;)
As you can see the subject line, I have a question to the following procedure:
I have videos. Avi format captured, edited and compiled into a new one. Avi file.
If I include this file into another project now again and again. Avi compile (; ggf even more often?), There is then a quality loss?
I really mean yes everything is in. Avi format and will be re-exported into a. Avi format.
So, quality loss or not, knows somebody know?
Thanx in advance

Hello Gombotz,
which comes to the used codec (; to compression).
There are lossless and lossy methods.
When using lossy occur again on the nature and manner of processing and intelligence of the editing program.
But in general we can say that any "normal" compression always attracts a quality degradation. Whether it be visible or not is another question.

Lars

I suppose it is to DV-AVI. So basically already lossy. But:
It depends, renders as your program. Many Programs to support smart rendering. If only you are cutting, so no effects, etc. adding, it will not re-compressed, but the data are as they are copied into the new file. This then means that any loss in cutting despite lossy compression.
