Frage von matze22:Hi folks,
I have recently a new PC (Dual Core, 2GB RAM) and using After Effects CS3 on Windows Vista ...
Now I have a small problem with the RAM Preview in CS3 ...
I must say for my old PC (about 8 years old), I was in trouble After Effects 7 a RAM preview of at least 10 seconds to play! (with 1.5 GB RAM)
On my new PC with AE CS3, I can now just incredible 5 seconds to play ...
Now I'll want to ask if someone can tell me how I After Effects must correctly, that the RAM preview work?
Also seems that the dual-processor support in AE does not work ...
If "Render Multiple Frames at the same time" is set, then it is even slower than before and I can even fewer seconds to play ...
Who can help me?
Greeting
Matze:)

the amount of memory only says something about how much RAM as part of a preview can be reproduced. The operating system also takes RAM (both new and more) and different compositions can be complex.
Antwort von Debonnaire:
... and different compositions can be complex. The complexity of a composition is absolutely irrelevant to whether the once finally rendered frame in the RAM preview to be accused or not. Either it has space in the RAM or it has not. HOW pointing to the pixels (or even the whole frame) is incurred only interested in the processor and its performance. Once rendered, it is simply a collection of color in a rectangular matrix, synonymous if there were one or hundreds of Berechnungsdurchläufen needed in order to create the pixel.

Hello,
naja any case I have the old aftermarket Efffects 7.0 installed on Vista and if I have a composition as a RAM Preview render then it will output 15 seconds!
If I have the SAME composition in CS3 and go, then renders it only 5 seconds!
The memory and cache settings, I have two versions of After Effects similar but CS3 renders only 5 seconds and 7.0 renders 15 seconds!
That is probably a hammer!
Since a new version comes out which is worse than its predecessor ...
Have I done something wrong now, or is that really so?

Have I done something wrong now, or is that really so? Your real mistake was when your new calculator s.falschen the end to save money. ;) 2GB under XP were already low enough to work properly with AE can be. Under Vista kannste the completely forgotten.
Since a new version comes out which is worse than its predecessor ... The fact that a newer version of a software consumes more memory is probably logical, as with any version number of synonymous Features grows. Therefore you should perhaps an even older version of AE install. Determined to get a few seconds more raus! ;)

The main reason for upgrading was probably mainly the "official" Windows Vista support ...
I had originally in my calculator 3 GB of RAM in it, but unfortunately had to get 1 GB, because one of my PCI cards, a problem with more S.2 GB RAM (ACPI problem) ...
Is there a setting in AE CS3 by at least 10 seconds RAM Preview to get, or else I can somehow store for preview "book"?
Many greetings

Is there a setting in AE CS3 by at least 10 seconds RAM Preview to get, or else I can somehow store for preview "book"? Reduce the Resolutionder preview. Then do not get the full qualification, but enough to test it all.
BTW: The hint box under Settings / Mehprozessorverarbeitung is that any background process requires at least 400MB Ram. That probably explains why you with even less RAM preview to see him.
