Frage von Auf Achse:Keep in touch!
I have asked before about half a year already because of the Raid 5 Write / read speed and found out just this: If I have a very large project which is s.Raid5 save, it takes about 90 sec. If I am the same Project on C: copy, of open and then again on C: Download it ONLY takes about 20 sec (;!!)!
Among the data: Raid5 = 6pcs. identical hard disks WD 1Tb 32Mb cache. C: = 2pc. just such hard disks in Raid0 Association. CPU = Intel Quad Core MoBo = Gigabyte EP45-UD3P The RAID systems are managed by the MoBo Raidcontroller. 8Gb RAM OS = Win XP64
In my previous question that came out of the Raidverband Write / read speed should in principle be faster than a single hard drive. I conclude in the present situation is the fact that the onboard Raidcontroller the brake. Raid0 will not be too slow, Raid5 seemingly fierce.
My questions: Does this eliminate brake only by an external Raidcontroller or are there after your experiences with MoBos speed controllers? Which external Raidcontroller are suitable for Raid5? I've heard that to be quite expensive.
If the write / read speed with each additional plate for less? include: 3 disks in Raid5 faster than 6?
Do you have other solutions? Basically, I like the Raidverband finally .... just A big hard drive! I would maintain that I do not want to be happy and satisfied with this brake.
Thanks and regards,

I have received in my previuos thread a lot of useful information, unfortunately, is the subject tilted to the conclusion in an unpleasant direction. That is why I do not want to continue my old thread. Wen's interested ...

Hi!
After looking at my wiki Computerfuzzi and I have discovered the following about RAID5:
RAID 5 offers both increased throughput when reading of data redundancy as synonymous with a relatively low cost and is thus the most popular RAID version. Write-in environments with small, non-related amendments RAID 5 is not recommended, as a result, the throughput for random write accesses Write the two-phase procedure decreases significantly (s.dieser body would be a RAID-) 0 +1- preferred configuration. "
-> OK, conversion to RAID0 +1 is already planned ......
