Frage von bene_2006:Dear All,
I had the pleasure s.Wochenende include a wind ensemble in a church. The group consists of 8 wind instruments (, clarinets, trombones, trumpets, tuba, horn). The group I take in the empty (; no spectators) Church on the altar steps. The church is about 25 feet long in size, 10 meters wide and 8 feet high.
Now I stand with the camera (; SonyEX1) on the back gallery and movies from the troupe of about 15 meters off the top. Where is my plan.
As audio equipment I want to do with 2 Audio Technica Large Diaphragm 4033er a stereo recording. To this end, the mics, I would jump by 20 meters with the phantom-powered XLR inputs, the EX1 connect dowry and manual. But I have 2 preamp synonymous JOEMEEK VC3 PRO CHANNEL available. Should I pinch them between the mics and camera and leave the pre-amplification Teien?
My second question revolves around the microphone positioning. I have unfortunately not possible to experiment with a lot of good position and to Abhöersituation. Therefore, I want a foolproof as possible microphone position. How far should I choose for the orchestra, how high / low the mics should be positioned over the winds and above all: How do I set the mics to each other (; Keyword AB, XY or ORTF arrangement Micro) As I said it's not about me the last little bit of audio quality but (for security;) exclude such center hole or avoid reverberating overall sound.
Thanks for the advice.

You should not blindly set up microphones and hope that it already fits. The acoustics in churches is a challenge because of the Hall, although one of them, but should not be too dominant. If you want to start with only two microphones, then the sound must fit on site. Therefore, a good closed-back headphones in such situations is absolutely necessary.
As a general tip could give you: To increase the distance between the microphones of the sound source so far in order to obtain an authentic surround sound, but added too much reverb. At the base angle and distance you can you a little s.der
directional characteristics of microphones used
Add to with / without pre-amplifier: Probably because there is hardly a big difference if your cables are in order.

Hi Bene,
I have already made a similar recording under almost the same terms last Christmas in a church. Just look at my part time, maybe he'll help you so next.

Otherwise, I can only say, do not worry. The horns are very loud and can take up quite well. I had two far less well Mirkros and hanging in about 4 m high s.einer ceiling lamp design. Mirko's the first I had simply put forward in the middle of a tripod and the wind drumrum in 3 m distance in a semicircle. The height of the microphones was slightly higher than head height. That sounded great. Unfortunately, this construction of the public and the video could have been very disturbed and the behind the brass choir was much too quiet ... so I had to rebuild. Are you there so much freer.
