FireWire FAQ">(see point 5) and the Panasonic really has invented its own, get the required DV cable of not less than the manufacturer of your camcorder. In the manual you should then find exact product name.

There are not many MiniDV cameras do not have firewire port, as far as I remember, was the DS 8 no.
If firewire, then 4 poles (but please do not confuse with USB, which is also often Pana)
Les times in the back of the instructions to find out what connections to the old Pana has, I would be 95% to a 4 pin Firewire tap.
