how do I get old S-VHS tapes as loss as possible in a iMac? I think Canopus ADVC-55 or ADVC-110 would probably be the right instrument, but there is still a more favorable and / or better solution?

Take the ADVC 110!
With other converters, I had discovered that the recording always stops. Only with the ADVC110 has to be without error.
Alternatively, you could be synonymous to take a Pinnacle Moviebox DV. However, only the version with firewire. So I've made good expereience synonymous. There are Moviebox DV only used if I know.

Lossless will not work because even a change of Analog (; includes S-VHS) to digital (; codec), a theoretical loss.
If it should not be the Canopus, then especially should the codec and the bitrate is not spared. A low bit rate can degrade the picture, especially if many artifacts are present (;) synonymous Noise.
With the Canopus You can even capture as DV, which was sufficient for most cases and especially later synonymous easily be edited.

It is digitized. Your analog video streams will be lost. Therefore, it is just purely theoretical 1:1.
Digitalisierst And if you do not compress too much, then you can use the material synonymous "visually lossless" nennen. The digitized version since the original version looks similar.
A 1:1 transfer not only works for losses already digital formats.

It is possible with a variety of cards and codecs with any effort digitize.
I think that capturing an AD converter (; referred to as the Canopus is) the best compromise.
The output format is DV-AVI, which can with any editing program, edit the memory footprint is about 13GB/Stunde.

Have unfortunately no AD-hiking, but use my VCR, I do need an ongoing basis. How many tapes are you? How long do you need an A / D converter? How portable is the MAC?

IMac is a great .... I Transporting could .. there are 10, 11 or 12 bands a 60min ....
The converter so I would need n times the weekend or something ....
