Infoseite // S-Video - so of Analog PC?

Hello,
I would like to dub a video of my Sony CCD-TR840E on the PC. I have read something about transformers and other cables. But now I want to know if I can connect my camera synonymous via S-Video?
God knows I'm no expert, but I thought to myself that these connections both s.meiner Camera as synonymous s.dem computer must have a benefit to them - can easily connect with each other. I have it right then bought an S-Vidoe Cable and eifach the camera connected with the computer: nothing happens. Camera is in playback mode. Windows Movie Maker always tell that no device is found.

WHY?
Or better: Was I too optimistic in my belief that there just might go analog signals transmitted to the computer?

Where did you connect the S-video cable then? A computer is synonymous video outputs, in which one can feed a signal ...

Hi,
Many thanks for the quick reply. So there is "Video IN" underneath - therefore assume that it is for the entrance of videos.

Would it be possible to dub in general without a converter and FireWire only with the SVideo cable?

Video-IN is schonmal well. Let's hope it's not a dummy, which was not internal connected. However, it is transmitted via S-Video, only the picture signal, not the sound. The connection of the audio signal, I have described here:

I just read that only digital media to communicate with each other. So my camera (which I think is similar) with the computer via S-Video cable does not, right? Therefore, the computer is supposedly not a device, right?
So I should grow with a converter. Is there already a FireWire or does one buy with the extra?
I found a link here, something that is actually quite expensive converter (about 100 euros). For a total Beginners and only very occasionally edit video, the man is already quite a lot of money. There are cheaper models that are sufficient for an amateur?

That's right, Hi8 is analog, so the computer can not find the camcorder. What the computer should find it, is you can attach the (internal built-in) digital recording device, s.welches the camcorder via S-video. With what software you are trying to capture video recordings?

There are synonymous (twofold) cheap solutions, which follows it via USB. These devices are called then usually grabber or carry similar names trivialized. But if you want to achieve good quality and still edit the recordings, then should the converter, the analog video signal to DV-AVI format, digitize, and provide no compression formats such as MPEG2.

I'm using the Windos Movie Maker. And it means Nocht always that no video recording device can be discovered!
So frustrating.
Gibts other Programe, with which it would have to go?

Actually, the movie maker is pretty good-naturedly in the detection of any recording devices. Schau doch mal in the Control Panel (System> Hardware> Device Manager> Audio - Video - and game controllers), whether there are listed some video capture devices.

Otherwise you would not synonymous to help another program than Movie Maker.

I found synonymous etzwas called Windows Media Connect. There is a button "devices". There is an empty field.
