Approximately 6 months since I first movies simple interviews of people over 65 years, Memoro - The Bank of memories. www.memoro.org / en. A non-profit organization to be established.
With the old Lifebook E8010 with Pinnacle Studio 12.1 it works. Simple with Canon MD216 Mini DV tapes. First, avi mpg4 then, then with Adobe video encoder on. Flv with 150kb / s compressed down so that it runs reasonably fast. Maybe not state of the art, but it does.
After many attempts .. (; girlfriend has a Mac, s.dem I am sitting now, but I am old Windows-uncle)
Now the problem: new Lifebook E8410 with 2.8GHz and Nvidia card purchased. Now when I record clips, with no preference whether a trial basis with Pinnacle or Windows Movie Maker, only about 5 sec-10 are recorded, even though I only after 2-5min press Stop. The sound hacked, a few colored pixels to dip iim Picture.
Vista Business and XP Pro are supplied, Twin Load. The problem arises with both operating systems. I'm frustrated easy to hard now .. I Can hineinsteigern as glorious.
FSC hotline and technicians are all of opinion that would be missing a codec, but all have little or no experience with video integration. And that it was not a hardware problem.
Has anyone a tip would be great.

you download the free program "GSpot" from the Internet.
Drag your file in there.
Gspot it tells you what codec was used and whether it is available on your calculator.

Check your Firewire cable. Perhaps it is with this new notebook "not compatible". That is when Firewire cables, unfortunately normal.

Thanks for the tips. I have an old external FireWire hard drive that worked, but it's a possibility I'll test. I will then test the software. More tips are welcome :-) because notebook was in fact "Schweineteuer "....

The joker in the store even said to buy at Ebay order ax to hack Mac notebook and nen. Cable has not helped, but the effort was worth it. The software Gspot showed no missing codec.
All system diagnostic tools of FSC synonymous receive no mistake, I am slow with my Latin s.end. Wait now s.Montag on the support of Fujitsu, today was probably all Brückentag.

A Firewire connector is synonymous s.Mac be broken, or "slightly defective". That means running some devices, others do not. Like maybe in your case.

Hi Niko,
Some Canon DV cams have a quirk: when you send the material is transferred into the calculator, the camera (first a brief snippet in a erroneous Audio format, 32 kHz), although the tape with 48 kHz is recorded. This is a peculiarity of the interplay between Canon Cam, Windows and Drivers.
Programs on this phenomenon, many stumble when recording. After a brief recording time suddenly changes the Audio format, and the Programs do not quite know what to write in the AVI 32kHz or 48kHz. Many here acknowledge their service.
What you can now begin with this information? My tips:
1. try different Programs for the recording, if you have the opportunity. Here are some free trial versions, which have a workaround for the "Canon problem":
