Hi recently I have the HC96
in space but can be in operation (record) always as a bright "hum" heard
This buzz is synonymous unfortunately sometimes in the finished film (with silence in the room included) to hear.

There are camcorders with mini-DV tapes, in the recording do not make noise. But then they are defective and are part of the service.

Do you want to dampen the noise a bit, then just directional microphone à la Hama RMZ-10. If the noise as well shielded (if just possible, if the microphone in close proximity to drive on the camcorder sits), you need to get better next to a directional microphone synonymous additionally an elastic suspension for mechanical decoupling (the spider). no, hama mic will not go.
the sony hc96 is ais - there are of sony microphones - which you can but if you forget to quiet the buzz did not want.
the buzz is even louder and even more quietly, because the automatic level control, the sensitivity of the mics constantly changing. if someone in the room talking, the buzz is not heard only in silence.
