A few weeks ago I got myself the Canon HG21, and after I realized that without a tripod is really all just stupid, I ordered the Velbon CX-686. Although I tripod for a camcorder a bit too large 500g (weight, diameter and leg reach), I was pleased with the part. But unfortunately the head has begun to make noises while panning (vertical and horizontal, both). The tripod is very new, the pivot function was only a few times before use.
I do not know how to describe the sound, it's a really soft crunch, but it might upset me (when recording Can not test now because the camcorder is on a friend). When I employ the tension soft, the sound is synonymous frequent and stronger.
My question is, is it normal for a cheap fluid head as of the cx-686? He is the same head as in the DV -7000, of which most are very enthusiastic. It's not that I can not live with that, but if it is a very obvious defect, I would order the return of course, and a new tripod. Before the sound I was very pleased with the pan.

I thought the tripod synonymous with me and he has s.and s.gequietscht when he was fairly tight and he was moved.
I do not know how, but you can unscrew the head from the tripod so come see the "lubricated" surface and ran. I would even look for whether there are some foreign particles.

Simply unscrew the Tensionsschrauben entirely, and take out the "U-clamps" and loosen the locking screws. If the head is open, then not only remove the grease! This is a special mix producers, who may replace any fat from the DIY store or elsewhere. I made the mistake once before and afterwards never again to restore the original slip, not even with a special grease for bicycle suspension fork, which has almost the same consistency. Ultimately, I have then ordered the PH368er again.

I have now seen on closer examination, do not sit the "pan" successive clean sheets. They allow a small vertical movement, which is unclean for vertical panning, jerky and the cause of this noise. Amazon Now I send the unit back and get a refund. The other problems with the pan I've found synonymous now, if I have correctly runtergedreht the tension.
Now I can think about it again if I was a cx-686 cx-order or a 480th:)
