Frage von Giliath: Salut,
I've read that the SWR (ARD) uses in his productions on the VJ-AG-HPX171 cameras of Panasonic.

Hi,
Although I can not speak with certainty for the SWR, but some mentioned.
In principle, alternatives are considered.
Although come to hear other opinions:
--- SonyEX difficult for VJ on reports without Tripod
Sonyand Canon HDV --- it should probably be tapeless
AVCHD does not come into question
Positive experiences with the DVX 100, thus very low friction when moving
ZDF hr and had already, as is now the synonymous br, chosen.
The "absolute", last sharpness does not matter.
Also 1080 is not a criterion. ARD and ZDF send Coding Standard in HD 720p
4:2:2 and just can not do any harm with 100Mbit.

So when Panasonic have to simply say that the price is right.
If there is now a whole VJ and above all synonymous EB techniques of SD to switch to HD, the price of course not a very insignificant factor.
And the companies / broadcasters must eventually make system decisions. The advantage of Panasonic: You were with P2 s.Start already quite early and the station had time to integrate the P2 workflow in the company / channel.
Sonyhing because I think just behind and had nothing to offer comparable.
Antwort von iMac27_edmedia:
With many camera operations, I met VJ colleagues who had recorded at least on map but on tape, digitized, edited, compressed upload.
With P2 cards it always takes a little longer.
On such matters, I commend my HM700 for VJ things almost too hard, you will be taken seriously but, as with a smaller camera.
The material taken directly of the card with the Final Cut timeline,
cut, compressed and uploaded, much faster than with
Panasonic cameras.
But the Panasonic cameras are in use in many production companies,
many work with tape, with other external recorder (hard drive) and few have enough P2 cards.
