USB 3.0 in planning: 10x faster than USB 2.0of thomas - 22 Sep 2007 23:34:00 Intel, HP, Microsoft Corporation, NEC Corporation, NXP Semiconductors and Texas Instruments Incorporated have signed up to USB 3.0 Promoter Group together to share the next version of USB to develop. USB 3.0 is backward-compatible, 10x faster than USB 2.0 (ie about 5 Gbit / s = 625 MByte / s) and parallel optical links (in addition to the traditional copper wires) use. Since the beginning of 2008 until the specifications are published, we will unfortunately have to 2009 or even 2010 at this speed miracle waiting.
Cool thing, would have only the rest of the hardware to support this speed, then the world would be perfect ... :-)

Hopefully there will soon be an answer of Firewire. Did not feel like one of nichthierarchischen to a hierarchical system (USB) to return to the completely over the CPU is organized. With so much bandwidth here should probably synonymous is the bottleneck. On the other hand, there are already so high eSATA data and the much slower Firewire 800 extends already synonymous for the "small" Redcam workflow.

Because it is embarrassing to me but if I am still here now with my USB 1.0 rumsitzen.

If I can quickly correct times:
It should read:
USB 3.0 in planning, up to 10x faster than USB 2.0 (ie approximately up to 5 Gbit / s = 625 MByte / s)
It can even Werbefuzzies now realized that they, for example, with USB 2.0 up to write better, but in small print, not fat like me. And how much of the 5 Gbit still remains, if the cable is longer than 5 cm, remains to be seen.
I would be the replacement of the unspeakable through USB Firewire already prefer.
Greeting Stefan

I think as a USB connection for almost everything except camcorder garnicht times as bad. When I look at the back of my calculator watch with more than 50 Times for various USB devices but this is better made and thought out. I have 5 years ago a 40 ¬ card for expensive bought a joystick and now I can no extra cost so synonymous halt connect via USB.
Antwort von Markus:
Mal 'ne stupid question: How fast is currently Firewire? I mean, beyond the IEEE1394b Spec (constant 800 Mbit / s) was still much drin ...

Well, if optical connections goes, there should be no problems over large distances ghen - will halt FibreChannel (there's now with up to 2000 Mbytes / s) for all :-)
Such speeds are normal for copper cable, so USB 2.0 or Firewire to create high ... Inhternet goes so synonymous over optical cables

Antwort von Johannes:
According to the Internet up to 3200 Mbit / s.
Antwort von Markus:
Accordingly So now as fast as USB 3.0 later times will be averaged. ;-)
Antwort von TomTurbo:
As far as I have heard it is not technically s.FireWire ran. Especially not when multiple devices are connected s.Bus. The brakes are mutually exclusive.
Antwort von Markus:
So nothing will change, firewire is better. zum Bild
Antwort von younes:
yes, unfortunately, is only sold less

Ask yourself why USB to connect a joystick or a disk containing the data in the speed will not always be bad ...
... a recurring, endless, ambivalent issue. * bored-guck *
Antwort von PowerMac:
Firewire is used in the transmission of video to be ousted. Most new cameras feature so now on memory cards or nonlinear media. As is increasingly only used USB 2.0, such as Red, with Reelstrem in or XDCAM EX1
Antwort von robbie:
Unfortunately, yes.
Fortunately, at least the XDCAM - Mazen and a FireWire cameras for the file access mode.

As already Eckbert wrote:
Nothing useful, if the CPU for requesting and processing the data is responsible. Once an application has a higher priority than the USB driver has everything falls into the cellar and it falters and clatters like at times of Pentium2 and USB1.
USB is apparently still a software / CPU-based interface. From the bottle neck apart ..
