Nobody was on the Panasonic SDR-SW20 written.
The Xacti I had ordered and was not happy, so yes, I now synonymous experiences with the Panasonic needed.

I can understand, because as a "normal" camcorder not serious and "real" underwater shots to make it in its functions is too restricted. And for 'only' in the rain or to film s.Strand None will buy something.

THX I film underwater - there is no (!) Camcorders, which are underwater. All require an enclosure. There are not good solutions to 3 m, then a housing need.
For use of the target camera with wind and weather, I can say nothing. If it comes to real underwater goes, please post a message.

HD. Underwater power just a lot of sense because of the detailed designs. Overall, makes a "good" camcorder much sense, because the requirements s.lowlight, White Balance, Auto Focus, etc. under water are higher than most s.Land motifs. And the modern HDs are small enough to handle it all in one enclosure to bring. We have not two per institution as the BBC cameraman.

As of today tape. Arguments for tape, flash or hard drive are under water the same as above water.
Casing with Lanc or mechanical?
Housing is more expensive than when the camcorder (1000-2000 ¬). There are therefore two primary strategies:
1. Housing and Cam matching buy and use exactly the same way someday brought completely sell or keep forever.

The SDR SW 20 is the only consumer camera I stopped (of the 4 big companies) that really is waterproof. Although 1.5 m is not much. Panasonic is synonymous as a time limit of only 30 min. From her picture, it is highly comparable with the SDR S 10 - which are already NEN year. The technique is almost identical (sensor, data rates, Lens, Processor).
