For a long time I deal with the topic "VHS digitize". I want to bring my video collection to DVDs. And there is more and more a fundamental question: combo VHS / DVD recorders (eg Panasonic DMR-EH80VEGS with hard drive and Time Base Corrector), or a PC solution (eg with Canopus ADVC 110 or 300). Because im looking for, especially in terms of quality? The processing of the video (cut) is for me) not the primary goal, but once the mere digitization (fuse.

I have a Canopus ACEDVio and have been digitized and encoded a few things. Both separately with the Procoder very (very good quality) as synonymous encoded in real time with the import Ulead DVD Workshop 2 (synonymous) very good quality at the best level. Well. Anything goes. And yet I would not do it that way guaranteed. I have 48 hours VHS material I would then edit. Forget it. During this time I can not use my PC and also ACEDVio Timebasecorrector has not. Some of the photographs that did not go into the PC, since only disruption to come.
I'm so synonymous got a Panasonic DVD recorder. The Timebasecorrector is synonymous super and it is no surprise: The picture is on it on the HDD / DVD, as we have seen it synonymous with importing. And I can run it in passing. I do not have to sit and watch, or can do what s.PC synonymous. That's how I imagined it. A cassette dub after the other and well.
Of course you can with a PC more personalized menus, etc. do. But it just depends, if you want to place only a few hours or equal to 20 cassettes to DVD.
