Infoseite // VHS TV recording - Problems

Frage von hebeyer:

Hello,

I'm supposed to do for a friend as follows:

He has many self-recorded (from TV) VHS tapes are available on the shelves. They should now be captured on DVD because the quality of Kassettten slow noticeably declining.

I thought to myself now that I loop through the signal from the VHS recorder through my Canon XM2 s.den PC. Basically synonymous works quite well. Scart s.VCR, cable to the Camera and PC via Firewire s.den. To record Premiere Pro. Super Picture-and sound quality.

However: At irregular intervals, the power to the Xm2 s.with following error message: "Copyright Protected Dubbing Restricted". Mal looked in the manual: It is probably a hidden copyright signal which broadcast the television stations to blame.

Can anyone confirm this? If so, I would be interested in views which copyright protection is used there. There is also a way to still have his videos on DVD to be archived?

Somehow stupid: recording on the VCR are legal. Also s.externen DVD recorders. Contrast, should be made out of old VHS material for their own use in the same quality of a DVD, may not anscheindend mans ...

Ciao,
Henning

Hi Henning,

I had no problems so far, even VHS-recorded videos to digitize (using Matrox video card or Canopus A / D) converter. I too would be news to anyone that records a VHS recorder from the current TV program a copy protection.

What I could imagine, however, is this: Perhaps the output of your VHS recorder has some places as "twisted," says that the XM2 to identify a copy protection?

In this case, a timebase corrector (TBC) would be helpful, which makes the signal from the VHS recorder initially stabilized, ie conformity. Or you use a different A / D converter, which rightly synonymous with a less optimal input signal comes.

As an analog copy protection does nothing else than a standards-compliant signal will not bend to conform with the standards, which probably true. TBC is always a good idea, unfortunately, there are hardly any amateur.
