Otherwise, it is the light in the picture as to where you need it. And in the (relative) intensity, for which you need a correct exposure. For control of brightness differences - both internally and externally - as a suitable polystyrene plates and brightening as Molton black shading. That sounds a bit primitive, but it is already a step in the direction of conscious control and is not artificially made. The existing light sources to use, is not a bad idea.
... if good light is available ... Where light is synonymous shade, you might prefer to lighten, some items reflect too much, then throws it possibly Molton drüber.
