I have in the past, my analog video (Hi8) and my digital video tapes with the video card Fast / Dazzle DV processed. S.PC AV now. A few months ago I bought myself a new PC (the last ALDI-PC). This factory is already bringing the analog cameras necessary for my S-video connections and digital firewire jacks with. I would now like to know if since the installation of the video card in general is still necessary. For the digital camcorder that I see no need anyway. Only with my Hi8 camera I'm not sure if the card does not cut still benefits (eg better image quality). Since the installation of the cut card in the smaller unit, but a very fiddly affair, I would like to know if someone has already gained relevant experience and I can save my work. Then, the capture card that is ends up quickly on Ebay. In my opinion it is not necessary to install the card.
I obviously can not say for sure how the quality of the analog inputs on your PC is Aldi, but I suspect, as I read the test reports that the quality is not great with the capturing of the "Fast / Dazzle DV. Now AV difference.
The installation of the card is still possible, but you should be careful that in the already very small housing still remains plenty of room for air circulation.
What the digital-analog conversion via Zweitcamcorder concerns, I do not know if this is necessary. In principle, the range of inputs in your PC.
But you should first check whether your capture program synonymous EASILY can access the inputs.

Then the Pana is used as analog / digital converter and your Hi8 video just ends up as a DV AVI on the plate. This conversion is better than the DV Now AV. I had myself. The part is hyper sensitive to analog tape and produces plenty of manure. 50% of a tape were unusable.
