Hi Folks
Have at me there is the birth of my first child (joy!) Bought a digital camera. Finally, should such an event (and the following 20 years) will be duly documented.
This is when the camera is a "Digital Camera Stillimage" of Sony Cybershot DSC-W7. To my great surprise, you can connect the thing through an AV output (PAL) synonymous s.den Television and use it as a video camera / WebCam. Did I read in the manual and yes, I belong to the people that read something. :-)
Now to my project idea / question:
I want to feed the AV signal (PAL) on my PC, which I probably need a video card. I would then tap the image data from a live Java application out of the map in digital and uncompressed form. When I first time the data in the Java program have, I can then try to develop their own compression techniques, for example, or recognize in the Picture by software any forms.
As so often, I have a lot to me, maybe something's views made. ;-)
Can someone give me a tip about video card? I'm assuming that there are such maps, where can suck the image data "raw"? Spoken of as raw data, and those would be available in RGB format or some other format? And it will be difficult to get those of the card into a Java program?

Let me just ask something vividly back:
Could it be that you've seen a car and now guessing how you can invent a wheel?
You have since your dewy young. Instead you deal with the programming of a video card, would rather enjoy your youth. The first 2 to 3 years are perhaps demanding, but the most synonymous, because there are hardly talk back. If they are once about 12 or 13, then the time comes, s.Du rethink. Until then, you had 99 theories on child rearing, book now your child is 12 and you have no theory is more. Then, yes, you maybe You take the time to invent a wheel.
Until then, I would enjoy, as I said, the nachwuchs and attack back instead on a complete solution, for example, MiniDV or HDV with standard software.

I work in about 25%, which means I have enough time to do justice to my son _and_ reinvent the wheel.
It seems to me perfectly clear that "my" project idea and have already had other synonymous found much better solutions than I would ever be able to produce worm. But it's just so that you always s.meisten to learn when you busy yourself with an issue or not?
I certainly enjoy it enough time to have to deal with video cards, Java programming and video compression technologies. Furthermore, I assume that I will be the gained knowledge to use for my thesis. A worthwhile investment or not? Download and install standard software may finally (almost) everyone.
So I stay with my questions and hope to remain a valuable contribution / tip.

You will find in this forum did not seriously answer, right? ;-)
If you're able to program their own software, then you have to be synonymous in the position you acquire the knowledge of appropriate literature or developer relevant forums.
1. First you must clarify the platform (Windows, OS X, Linux, etc.)
2. Depending on the platform, there is work appropriate media frameworks that allow you with video / audio data stream (Windows DirectShow or Windows Media Foundations of the new framework, etc. in OS X, the QuickTime API). Possibly. There is synonymous Java APIs for all that (I imagine that JMF is one such).
3. If ye seriously with Audio / Video Compression want to employ, then you have to go a long way. The library can be used for the recording of image data and their processing. As far as I know, however, C + + is assumed. However, IMO is synonymous sense. With Java, I would not want to do sowas.
