Result: The avi file is about 50% smaller than without compression. The filter did not work.
Step 2, option a) - Save as AVI ... - Compression: no - Filters: Smart Deinterlace
Result: The new avi file is now about 3 times larger. The filter has worked.
Step 2, option b) - Save as AVI ... - Compression: Huffyuv 2.2.0 - Filters: Smart Deinterlace
Result: The new avi file is again about 50% smaller. The filter has worked. This file can not play, however. All players crash.
What am I doing wrong? Must always be compressed twice? Or only the first recording (capture)? So no more at the "Save as AVI" or do you? And when the deinterlace filter is used? When capturing or the "Save as AVI"?
Thanks for all the tips!

Error in old programs is normal. Sometimes, even new Programs mistakes. Uh, I mean features.
Take first a current version of VD. That would be the 1.6.11. Which you can install in parallel to 1.5.10. Insofar as the error is synonymous here yet, register again.
Good luck The fat Stefan

Hello Stefan,
The new version 1.6.11, I had tried already. This unfortunately does not exist. When I click on "Capture AVI ..." click, it depends on and can only be ended through the task manager. The error is reproducible. So I had worried me then the (stable) version 1.5.10.

Then the new VD can not be with the drivers of the capture card. The capture was part s.1.6 revised.
I can not use the capture filter, because my calculator is too weak. It would be lost frames. It should be IMHO, that VD uses only filter in RGB mode. I guess we must, therefore, the data in an RGB color space of the capture card and not get in a YUV color space (UYUV. ..)
So I have to use the filter afterwards. It works pretty well synonymous. I appreciate the problems of version 2 can come synonymous of Huffyuv. I only know Huffyuv 2.1.1. and had no problems. http://neuron2.net/www.math.berkeley.edu/benrg/huffyuv.html
In 2.2.0 it is said: "It _should_ be 100% backwards compatible with HuffYUV 2.1.1, but 2.1.1 HuffYUV will not be able to decode all 2.2.0 created files.". It will be discussed further synonymous serious problems .... Summary "The 2.2.0 is definitely a no-go." I propose to switch to it back in 2.1.1 http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-67121.html
