Hello!
I am really an absolute (cross) and camcorder beginners in terms of shooting and now plays with the idea of buy myself a model with hard drive from the current range of JVC to.
I would like minutes a camera with more than 800,000 pixels and. Acquire 20 times optical zoom, up to now but have not found anything suitable yet.

The picture quality is not of the number determined by the available pixels on the chip, but primarily of the underlying Siganprozessor. Actually you need, when you have a camera with optical image stabilization, not more pixels than the result of the above represents Rechnug grossly simplified -.

20x zoom is really not necessarily the most important ... I would prefer the picture quality of the ccd's on jedenfall ... if you need more tele, one can (the biggest part) still synonymous' s draufstöpseln tele-adapter and then replaced by the desired effect ...
And how scho said, 20x zoom out of the free hand is usually no picnic, but ends in lenticular fine * g *

Zoom is not a popular tool of professional film makers. In the reports it has a certain justification to good use. My preference would be:
1. Quality of Optics (safe clue: initial aperture of the lens)
2. Large wide angle - 50mm Small equivalents are not as useful.
3. Big sensor - implies less noise
4. Resolution (eg HDV)
5. Manual controls, in particular focus, Aperture
Virtually no interest: the zoom range.
