Since my Windows PC with the HDV not play along, there is a replacement for. I'd like to synonymous finally switching to Apple to make. A Mac Pro is currently for financial reasons are not yet eligible. For a transitional period, I must therefore with slightly weaker hardware go.

The G5 Macs probably expect a bit slower, this is a Festplattenraid no problem and the memory can be expanded synonymous better.

as a long-time Windows user, I have learned technical promises only very limited to believe.
It seems that these experiences are hardly transferred on Macs, maybe apart of the slow USB interface.
So I will be the tip with the 24 "Imac accept.

I recommend the new iMac, because it is faster and cheaper. I have a few weeks ago the iMAC 20 "2x2, 4Ghz (2GB RAM) increased, especially for Videoschitt - still SD, HDV, but will certainly be made soon. So if you have FW800 speed because of the pick, then isses fehlinvestiertes Money.
only 2 HDs run parallel to create the data throughput of FW800

But since I have other experiences. I have said since last week 24/2.4.iMac with a FW800 and 2 FW400-plates, of which I have my entire video and audio material on the plate was 800. I am primarily a question of my internal (320GB) disk with the iMacs are not these huge amounts of data zuzukleistern. If I am synonymous with other solutions feel no difference than if I had the files directly to my (internal) disk, I can live synonymous. Also, the current report on Slashcam HD video editing in the Comparison of Power Mac and Macbook pro has confirmed that the Imac is the better alternative to a G5 Tower. Only a pity that he has no slot for expansion cards.
I order to me so now the 24-inch iMac with 2.4GHz Gravis in October from the month for students and teachers to ¬ 1599. This is even lower than Apple's education.
This brings me to the next question:
What should I consider when selecting a Firewire 800 external enclosure note? Are there different powerful chipsets? I would prefer a housing that at least two 3.5 "hard disks and then summarizes optional Raid 0 and 1 support.
