I find myself lost in the test reports. I vacillate between a Canon XL2, SonyHDR-HC1 or DCR VX 2100th
Please give me your next experience, so far as I can decide. Or what model is missing in my immediate Choice? Are there any good test sites on the net?

Ne find entry-level professionals' ;-) I'm good I almost synonymous professional and beginner I've used SonyDSR PD-150 purchased. Do you work for TV? Then I can tell you the (successor to the recommended PD 170) only! For this purpose in each case, the better alternative to the VX 2100th Because you would not have the manual controls fairly quickly. Furthermore, it was for me, "good sound" the main reason for the purchase! For other purposes, the VX but quite enough!
Want to make films, I'd rather walk towards the Panasonic. you need just before you plan what you want. The important thing is synonymous size: plan for journalistic work, the compact Sony's or Panasonic's exactly right. First of this camcorder I think the standard here is quite different (MiniDV is not the same MiniDV).
High Definition Video (HDV) vs..
DV. You should also ask you,
if you already in the HDV want to advance the field
or if you with "professional entry" mean that you were previously amateur, with what's on your old computer equipment (old DV tape recording, NLE editing cards, etc.).
Second, the HDR-HC1 is based on the young CMOS sensor instead of a CCD sensor.
