MFG For the purposes of and in the price range would be the best for my JVC GY DV 5100 (or previous DV 5000, because the price is exceeded in the current model may easily)
The DV 5000 I had myself a short time in the hand, a dream of processing and quality. A very popular model for documentary and feature filmmakers. Take time search function. HDV models (eg: FX 1 or Z 1, HD 100 / 101) in the requirements, I would advise against.
I was absolutely thrilled LoLux of the function yet (well acceptable images when shooting at almost no light without anything on the road to be able to shed light or have to) the AD 5000, immediately MiniDV and DV tapes into the same drive - so it is flexible.
These models are not, however, easy to use (no AF), as recently reported of a user.

Well, perhaps Xao wanted to just see what models to keep our forum or format for the "best" for his purposes.
But have you ever sit right ¬ 6000 in which one or the other pretty relaxed ..

synonymous to me so I would look at you the brand new Panasonic HVX 200 is - without a price P2 cards under you and is the only variable frame rates (for documentaries sure) is not uninteresting.
