Frage von fenasi_kerim!:Hi,
must sit down now for the first time with my camera apart.
Have a SonyHVR A1E and am an absolute beginner transfer and lots of tapes.
Why is the transfer of the material of the MiniDV (HDV 1080i recording) the file on my PC only 3.99 GB.
Have the devices connected via FireWire.
This would have but for 60min. about 13 GB in size.
Use Premiere Elements 4
Thanks for the help.
Antwort von EightRocks:
3.99 GB is the largest size, the Windoze accepted in a single file.

Then the 1.5 terabyte hard drive has great indeed paid off right:) I thought it had been worthwhile because some fit 3.99 Gb clips on it ;-)
Antwort von EightRocks:
Premiere normally should be easy to write with other files next.
Film1_1.mov
Film1_2.mov
Film1_3.mov
etc.
heweils hold a maximum of 3.99 gb big
Antwort von deti:
3.99 GB is the largest size, the Windoze accepted in a single file. That's not because Windows is not "fault" but the file system used in each case:
- The FAT file system knows more than 4GB.
- For NTFS the limit is 16TB.
Therefore, you must look at the formatting to the correct file system!

But I could only make in the transmission almost always a section. Sozugagen after each episode, the transfer stop and the next transferred again.
Then but the file would have larger or with more GB will be saved. Although cumbersome but the quality would be better.
Or will decompress the file "after I have it divided into clips?
Antwort von fenasi_kerim!:
That means I should reformat my external hard drive new?
Antwort von deti:
Oh man .. the file size got to do with nothing but quality. HDV is constantly working with 25Mbit / s and after importing via Firewire will change this situation. On FAT file system is automatically created for each new one 4GB file.

If Windows does not normally anyway with NTFS formatted?
Antwort von Alf_300:
External hard disks are shipped with all but FAT32 format to NTFS is not a problem, another looked out of the system as FAT32, there's a Windows option Convert to NTFS but where to find the again.
Antwort von fenasi_kerim!:
The external is FAT 32
Antwort von Alf_300:
Because what that is overlapped hsat UP
Antwort von fenasi_kerim!:
The format only works on exFAT.
Get it to try the same.
Antwort von Alf_300:
In search of the web tool:
Formatter32 and
HP USB Disk Storage Format If the disk that is connected Away like where are you with exFAT as badly off.
Antwort von deti:

Antwort von fenasi_kerim!:
Sun After Format exFAT and about 30min. Transfer is the file size is 5.5 GB in a file.
I would therefore only happy times.
I am still of the opinion that at 3.99 GB for 60min. the video is compressed accordingly. With 11GB but are more image information? Or fallacy?
Why should there be problems with exFAT?
Antwort von Alf_300:
as long as you do not want to use the plate away Gibts ExFAT with no problems.
(Gibts s.VISTA only for XP you need as the KB955704 update)
Antwort von fenasi_kerim!:
OK That means problems with other operating systems?
Wanted to transfer and edit videos and pictures of all the plate connect s.meinen wireless router. That was it.
