Frage von jasmin61:Hi,
s.bin s.verzweifeln ....
I have encoded a movie (1m) wmv with media encoder V.9.
Now the file is uploaded but some only see a black screen and the movie does not play himself.
WME uses its own codec? It encodes the film so that only PCs with a Windows Media Player 9 can play him?
How can I change this setting, the film on PC's with all versions of WMP will weidergegeben??
Have the file because it myself unfortunately only as wmv now available in Adobe Premiere on the encoder and cut the video codec, "ISO MPEG-4 Video V1" taken (although I do not know what that means exactly?)
But still synonymous MPEG4 can not play everybody.
How can I now convert wmv to wmv they all going??
Thanks for your help, I'm genuinely perplexed??

Welcome to the world of proprietary codecs ;-)
If you want to exclude in principle such a hook and do not want to lose synonymous 08/15 Linux / Mac user, you can use MPEG1 as a distribution format.

The MPlayer package (freeware) is the mencoder inside. So you can create synonymous WMV1 (s.Windows Media Player 7) and WMV2 (s.Windows Media Player 8).

Which Windows Media Player there, and when those with which Windows version was introduced, can be found here

With WMV1 you reach the user s.Windows 2000 and with WMV2 users s.Windows XP. Some Windows 98/95 users have upgraded the codecs, which can reach you then synonymous.
Good luck

Thanks Stefan!!
Unfortunately, not quite solved my problem (but expanded my knowledge, Windows Media Player / Encoder :-)) so I naturally searched next and tätä've grown .... looking for.
In the Media Encoder, you can get to Properties> Compression> Edit> Media Types <Set the codecs for video and audio, then later I am synonymous ver codec
for Windows Media Video V7 set to yes, then it should work out well.
Although I can not quite understand why I did not sound at such a possibility exists? There is only the choice: Windows Media Audio
9.1. Professional and Windows Media Audio
9.1.? I hope it will play out in a Windows Media Player 7, then make no problems ....

... Windows Media Video V7 ...
... Windows Media Audio 9.1 Hello Jasmine,
synonymous with the above settings I encode, if a customer a video file as a WMV file. So far there were no complaints. ;-)
