So I asked myself if I did not even put a little on it and I'd rather buy a real workstation, of which I then synonymous with slightly longer. I was thinking a Dell Precision, Lenovo S20 (here would be the graphics card supplement) or of CADnetwork. These workstations are supposed to be designed for the processing of multimedia digital content.
My current favorite is the Dell Precision. What do you think?

What software do you want to use? eg. Avid will be a little tricky in terms of hardware, but of course is synonymous DIY possible.
If you have a little idea of the matter, enough time and patience, then I would assemble a computer yourself, you are flexible and can easily select the components according to their own needs. In workstations is synonymous only with boiled water and it is synonymous times there are problems.

One advantage of a workstation's just that you have support (assuming that the synonymous then really good for ...) if something does not work. When eigenbau PC you have yourself to find out what components make problems, which could be cumbersome in some circumstances.
Want to inserting the PC business or only private? If one is in fact dependent on the PC and is ready synonymous, in addition to paying for the service, then it's worth maybe even buy a workstation since it typically in a home built PC. is longer, until you have replaced the faulty hardware.

I build my own calculator always together. If I had to put together a date:
i7 920 (overclocked to 3.4 GHz), a low-cost Asus motherboard, 6 or 12 GB DDR 3 1333 Mhz RAM, a fast 200 GB Solid State Disk for the cut data and two 750 GB hard disks in the RAID for swap platform. For the system, a 500 GB Spinpoint and that's it.
Why only 750 GB Outboard for the files? Because you already have repositories for other discs, a decent backup system and regular cleansing should be carried out including defrag and error-prone as to be the larger hard disks with increasing capacity.
I save everything and redundant 500 GB hard disks. They are cheap and robust.
¬ 2500 should plan to do a safe system of work I think - 2000. Then compressed and decoded one synonymous far under real-time and not wait half the day :-)
