Hi, I've always without problems, the videos with my Mac via FireWire and Final Cut Pro captured.
Since last year, the video cam but no longer, if I have a Firewire cables recognizes - as the mac does not recognize the cam. I have 4 different cables (both tried 400 as synonymous 800) unsuccessfully -: (
Normally would but when I plug in a cable DV / dranstehen in or something right? - For me that is nothing happening
I've reset preferences - but I thought I ask for time before I send them to canon ...

You have plugged in the Firewire cable as the camera was turned on?
If so, could it perhaps be an overvoltage damage or as synonymous always say it correctly. I think there were already several cases here in the forum. The repair should then cost a few hundred Euronen.

yes - it was - and this was expressly so synonymous in the Instructions ...
The camera itself works without problems - only it will just no longer recognized ...
remains for me but probably nothing else than CPS remaining ... : (

Is really nothing new, my HV20 posted with defective Firewire: 300 euro for a new part ..... prefer to buy Sony, there is on some cameras (eg, HC1) of Firewire with 4 cheap components protected against overvoltage.
How does it actually with the USB port if AVCHD cameras? Stable?

There was not even a post in which the user received the repaired camera, together with new instructions, in the original instructions (rightly) was explicitly rejected?
