I own an XM1 and I got along quite well so far. I just noticed today when I with the camera of a friend had filmed that I could use with his camera under the same lighting conditions much higher shutter speeds than with my (; with my highest 1 / 800, with his) to 1 / 2400th The high shutter speeds are important to me because I mostly skate films, however, remains a mystery to me why there was such a stark difference, though the cameras were lying side by side.
Asked for clarification.

If the two cameras under identical conditions and at the same aperture and (; if any) gain so apart, then it might be due s.eingebauten ND Filters: In your XM1 it is activated, the other not.

The shutter speeds are not (by the way high, but low; = short). Those are indications in the form of a fraction and 1 / 800 is smaller than, say, 1 / 50.

He does not write explicitly that the camera is his friend synonymous ne XM1. If not, then, is the second camera XM1, there are many possibilities: the automatic exposure control works differently, the intensity of Lenses, etc. is different.
Is it by 2 XM1, so there except ND filter, and gain further possibilities:
1. The Focal (; zoom) is set differently.
2. Even if the cameras lie side by side, they are not exactly the same image. A minimal Rotate can strongly influence the exposure.
3. Perhaps 1 Camera has a filter on it, swallowing the light.
4. The cameras come from different production runs and have a different firmware.
