Canon XM1 - yes or no?

So, I have this thing had been on loan only in the fingers. But there are many committed filmmakers to use the regular part and as far as I noticed very happy with it, you should report to individual voices, the problems, not be overestimated.
Technical equipment can break down forever. And who committed films, sometimes risking more than someone who just lifts an amateur model to the Golden Wedding ...
Oh yes, there are followers synonymous every now and then. But what is one at 720 * 576 can improve still correct doll. Video cameras are no cameras, so far here is a Megapixelwahn over the counter offered no help, but rather about low light. More seriously at the camera zoom is synonymous nobody want.
If I had to improve the camera, would feel the turn. A little less plastic, and a little more feel. But this is my personal opinion, of the results on tape, I was very impressed!

Hello!
The XM2 is a prima camera. The image quality is at a high level and the Equipment is opulent.
In my opinion, one should not take the warnings about the tape drive quite seriously.
What good is such a great camera, if they destroyed no later than when playing the valuable recordings?
I even had my XM2 three times within eight months of been because of various problems in mechanics cassettes repair. Daraufhit Canon gave me a new MX2, but steikte already after the third tape again.
Now I have a Sony VX2100 Of. The image quality is better, but this bears no relation to the price difference.
The XM2 makes excellent pictures, has more zoom and is comparatively small and light.
But: The safety, proper shooting to have it behind me is worth it. Who once to a wedding band with salad stood there, know what I am talking about.
There are many who profess to have never had a problem with this camera (the fortunate). None of them is personally known to me. Unfortunately, I only know Negative examples:
The MV600 another friend has the warranty did not survive as well. She was eventually exchanged for a new model of Canon.
The XL1 a colleague's "ailing" synonymous around so. Then, when the Garanie had expired, was built for a mere ¬ 600, a new head slice. Since then (about 1 years professional use) Runs the thing, however great.
Good luck with your adventure Canon!
Felix.

I put the XM-a 2 in the News section. Your camcorder is now about 1.5 years old and works perfectly. However, I only put the very expensive "SonyPDVM-40N" DVCAM tapes up! In this combination, I've never had problems with "Band salads or image defects, skipping, etc.

It is certainly distributor be used sinvoll quality cassettes. A fortiori, if one has to earn money with the material. However, I find tapes for about 8 ¬ a piece, for amateur filmmakers a little exaggerated.
Every good Markencassette should work without problems. Changing Places cassette is once again an issue. One should avoid that.
With the Canon it is this: Either you have a copy of this works or not. In my opinion, Canon would do well to consider the tolerances a little closer. Synonymous Then more people would benefit from a functioning camcorder.
