Perhaps there is still a backup in times synonymous around the lamp to protect against voltage spikes.
Alternatively, is there really more than just two cables in it - but try it out. Wenns explodes, you'll get angry about the saved ¬ 50 ...

The voltage 12V s.einer usual Kfz-Zubehörsteckdose/Zigarettenanzünder is now generally about 12.5 volts at rest and approximately up to 13.8 volts (charging voltage) while driving. Do not know if the info is important to you.
