Hello,
would like to book from recorders on the pc. use this unlead videostudio 8th The data come on the tv card and purely for that I choose in options below vs-input source "Video S-video.
everything works. But the problem is the format. I choose "DV", jumps vs auto to "AVI" (presumably because "computer" just) can only come from the camcorder. no preference - 1 minute, but with "AVI" is 1.236 GB! of course does not go because I want to digitize a total of 4 hours of film. how can I reduce it, have no revenue loss to the same quality? If I of the cam with dv HOST I have pointed quality synonymous only 250 MB and the minute. I then set times on "DVD". Then there it is 65 MB / minute, which would be OK, but mpg format helps me cut to the little ...
PS: the "Options" can adjust times as many different parameters, but what exactly do I adjust to avi-format data received in an appropriate size for I do not know. does this mean?

This is uncompressed AVI. Under Options, you should still specify a video codec to compress the video.
Which video codec?
If it is possible for a codec in which each picture is stored as a keyframe. This fine can you just cut.
When it comes, take a DV codec. By doing this you come to about 13 GB per hour. Or an MJPEG codec and installed from the high quality level (17-18). Here at http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/technicalsV3.htm there is a 60 days trial version.

there's truly something that could go what? I check in the VS8 not: on the one hand, I can choose the format in the submenu and then use different codecs. But irgenwie always comes out the same (filesize avi)??

This is not the list of video codecs as it occurs in VS8. This is the list of installed video codecs in the Windows system.
From the list would be the Intel Corporation Indeo ® video 5.10 or less OK for your purposes, if it is usable in VS8. The others are nothing more for the record + cutting. Indeo5 would be better than a DV codec or an MJPEG codec.
Why you can select in VS8 the video codec is not correct, I do not know. Perhaps it is a bug or you have to read the manual once again precise and website / forums of the manufacturer Ulead.

believe it or not, but the trick with the remove the cassette from the cam was the solution! naturally does not manual. I would not have come in 100 years on it.
The connection with the 3-fold chinch / scart plug I have used and synonymous to input and output, I had always respected. has kindly forward to my vcr and RCA, S-video jack on the rear entrance and the same for the output, because of her I could do nothing wrong. synonymous cam in manual is described in the sections that you or a function for a / v, dv-output must activate synonymous that I've observed.
Now I use according to the manual even better variant: video via s-video cable into the docking station of a digital camera and the tone of the chinch sockets with the supplied a / v cables berbindungs jack of a digital camera into the a / v the docking station.
But now comes: the picture more jerky cam on durchgeschleifende than if I send it via the vga card directly into the pc. Although I now have the desired DV avi format for precise cutting and forming with the synchronized soundtrack in a reasonable data size (1min = 218MB) instead of DVD mpeg (1min = 65 MB), but what good is that, if the picture slightly jerky ?
CONCLUSION: It has long s.verschiedenen settings are screwed and tried before I can present the best result.
