just wanted my pictures made available to the cr2 format open in photoshop cs3 and behold, photoshop can start with the data nothing.
has anyone of you to experience or a solution??

Yes, Adobe CS3 users let you down You have to use DPP of Canon.
This is the Cam with it.
The CamerRaw Update was straight out last week is only comb through CS4.
At least as far as the DPP is to develop 7D Sun recommended anyway.
