This original 7d clip can play in Edius 5:12 natively without any problems and to edit.
In contrast, AVCHD playback is anything but fluid!

what setting do you take at 24p?

No, the 7D-file can be reproduced in liquid and therefore easy to edit. AVCHD footage is running against only in "slow motion".
At 24p or 23.98p can use us1280x720 or 1920x1080.
