Hello,
there's nothing to Digitizer, DV is already digital, the file is only copied.
As you've already written: Use a Firewire cable and transfer the file with the software of your choice. Comes with Windows as the "Movie Maker" with which the masters. Any other software is just as good.

The video is 1:1 copied via firewire, there is no Quallitätsverlust. Possibly. "worse" Darstellungsquallität s.PC monitor results on a different display of PAL video and computer images (vs. interlaced. progressive). The video is played on a television in the expected Quallität displayed.
