Hello,
just anticipating my Apple dreams fail reality s.der price (4500 euro maybe times after the degree or so).
But in putting together a new computer (only for DV editing) run the entire turnkey video editing systems on Intel Xeon.
Someone knows if there is a reason there?
For me, the crucial performance and I want mainly to avid and premiere cut.
Need Recommendation for a total
- A good video card
- Graphics card (which is synonymous 3d)

Look elsewhere in order and you can get it for less money.
I will buy next week, with 5 GB of RAM for about 2800-2900 euro. In Apple's well-gates 600 euros more expensive. Many forget that the MacPro synonymous "only" is a computer and the hardware gets cheaper synonymous.
@ Powermac BTW: have you ever tested how much power difference between the GeForce 7300 and ATI Radeon is when you are working with Motion? Does it make a lot of evil?

Mac is already ne point chic, but the PC prices are in the price / performance simply more attractive. Since I am for equal money purely a lot more power can be cut.

Workstations are generally slightly more expensive. Imagine you have a PC with the same power, since you're often drüber. Synonymous Kommt drauf s.was du reinhaust. Just the motherboards are not cheap.

the pure DV editing with DVE and graphics and a bit Schnick Schnack - that you can synonymous with 2 x 350MHz Pentium manage well, stable with no crashes and render times.
That has the industry in 1992 in the offline edit with a 486 hingekriegt.
But all people want today, the whole "post-pro-street" with sound design in a workstation - with a software.
There are pros at the "mean at least 3 professionals.

For DV editing, you need to get any big graphics card, but a lot of fast disks and RAM. A 20 "iMac with 3GB RAM and an external RAID hard disks system (eg, Iomega 1TB of - EUR 400) you get even the Apple Store for under 3,000 euros. If you've Ust-ID s.2.000 closer EUR.
From my experience I know you only advise on the Mac. Work is so * easy *. With the PC you have a little money saved, but you lose again to the more time you have problems with Windos (viruses, Microsoft UI, ...).

It is synonymous an iMac 20 "with 2.16 GHz Core Duo Two 2nd Core Duo 2 cores run pretty! Just as Final Cut Pro the nuclei properly exploits!
