The GS 400 has been around since mid 2004 and is still the higher category model, the GS 250 is of 2005.
There are still two cur.

you'd recommend you for a used Canon XM-1, or look SonyVX-2000 (or a comparable camera 3CCD this class). I've got half a year ago for 900, - USD on eBay an old Canon XM-1. An absolutely brilliant camera with super lens, manual focus ring, progressive frame mode, etc. And the pictures are a dream. More price / performance you can not even get to about 1,000, - EUR!
(Though of course there is always the danger that with cameras that already have three to five years under his belt, something is not technically wrong, or the wear and tear will show in a few weeks or months then).
