Hello,
I hope you have a plus version did (otherwise there is no trace overlay).
In the overlay track your Picture that you want to insert, insert, then picture-in-Picture and select the corresponding picture in the background image set.

I speak of Pinnacle Studio plus, either version 9 or 10
In the timeline above is the normal video track, including the overlay track (if it is open), then the title track and including 2 audio tracks.
The overlay track is only in the plus versions.
Overlay Track open: Right click on clip and inserted in the context menu:
"Always show overlay track."
