It is schnurzpiepegal what tape you use. One can, in principle, any use MiniDV tape. The only important thing is that it remains in a tape and not the tapes with different manufacturing processes and ME and MP in the same "mixed". So either ME or MP, although the Manufacturer sch ... no preference is. With the HV30, I have first Sonyexcellence (ME) and now uses Panasonic Professional DVC (also ME).
