Hello,
I recently decided to go up a Canon xl2.
I have read in the technical documentation for the Canon, it is possible recording or 1:1 is possible directly on the camcorder the mpeg encoding the videos where I could then save it to HDD.
My question is
direct recording via usb or firewire possible for the xl2?
then how does the current source for the hdd?

The trial and error with a related way, rather theMantici who has even a XL2.

you have just found in Slashcam forum. Do you have previous experience whether a direct hard drive recording with the XL2 is possible.
For, according to Canon hotline, a PC or laptop must be in between. In the forum, unfortunately I could find no direct information whether the combination XL2-firewire cable external HDD is enough.
Would be nice if you could help.
